The morning-pill ad that upset too many people

A morning pill advert showed last night on TV caused hundreds of parents to become infuriated and call with complaints.

The ad is developed in a cartoon-style and tells the story of a a woman waking up next to her partner and then heading to a chemist to buy the Levonelle One Step morning-after pill.

Given the huge problem Britain has had in the past and still has with teenage pregnancies, I think this is a great step forward into an open discussion on sexual health. Girls should be able to have the sexual education that allows them to choose what is the method they would like to use, but also be aware of this emergency possibility.

The launch of the Levonelle ad has been quoted as 'moral line crossed' and calls from so many parents show what a sensible issue this is. There are current proposals
to relax the rules on condom advertising and to allow pregnancy advisory services to advertise on television. This sounds good, if it will go through.

In the meantime, be safe and be healthy!
