all the wrong things

how many things can go wrong with one move to london?

to be fair, things are sorting themselves out in the end, it's just getting there that's proving to be quite a trek.

i think it all started with a bad timing in the job offer and notice period. I had 6 weeks and right bang in the middle it was a holiday to scotland, that was really good, but very badly timed.

then the misconception about renting times in london. didn't know that 2 months of notice is standard, so looking for stuff and seeing them and moving within 2-3 weeks is simply impossible.

the only properties that you can move in straight away means the property has been vacated for some time and it's empty for a reason. all the nice ones go very fast and do not stay on the market empty at all.

so timescales were very wrong from the beginning. and since i had to vacate my property one week before we could to move into the new place, a big bell of alarm should have gone off. but it didn't.

then things went very wrong with the referencing/credit checks for P. and we thought we weren't going to get the property at all. i think, to me, that was the moment when I crashed big time and never re-grouped since then. tried to get back on my feet, but small, little blows have put me back down, again and again.

after 2 days of nightmare, the papers were accepted.

Next, our removals van was supposed to have come on one day to load and take the stuff to london the day after. that didn't happen, we had to do it all in one long day. when we got to the property, we knew that all the flats were still being finished, but didn't know how far from finishing they were.

we previously agreed to put our stuff into the flat next door (2nd floor) because ours wouldn't be ready, but when we got there, none of them were ready, so had to put them into another flat - 1st floor. so after hiring a removals company, we still have to move all my stuff one floor up some very tight stairs one our flat is done. another blow to ruin your mood and time-scales and plans.

then the move-in date changed. what better way to end a day than to find out that you're not even moving in when you planned to?

me and P. are stretched to our max with our budgets, our plans and trying to be floating at least. I don't know how good we are doing, but I guess we just have to wait and be patient, also ready for whatever else comes our way.

so, the story unveils....
