About how to love

I have stumbled upon this poem by Jorge Luis Borges while I was looking for something else online. I think it is one of the most beautiful things I've ever read about what love is and how love should be expressed between 2 people. 

I don't know if it will resonate with you, but give it a try to bring some sense to your life. Only by being stronger and worthy of yourself you can really love someone else, instead of clinging or depending on the first/any person that will carry you. 

I especially liked the bolded parts.

After a while you learn the subtle difference
Between holding a hand and chaining a soul,

And you learn that love doesn't mean leaning
And company doesn't mean security.


And you begin to learn that kisses aren't contracts
And presents aren't promises,


And you begin to accept your defeats

With the grace of a woman, not the grief of a child,
